Winter Stress and Your Dog
While Jack Frost is nipping at your nose, it is also nipping at your dogs toes. Even though dogs have a better natural protection that we do with a healthy coat of fur, it doesn’t mean they are invulnerable to the effects of cold. Even sled dogs can get cracked paws due to cold damage. This is similar to having severely chapped lips. If your faithful canine sleeps in an out door dog house, it is a good idea to make sure that you get one that is raised off of the ground by a few inches. Also, a simple bumper bed will make outdoor sleeping a lot more comfortable for your pooch. Make sure that the cover is removable and machine washable. If your dog spends a lot of time out doors, make sure that the types of luxury dog collars they wear are durable and can stand some wear and tear. You can also invest in some good warm dog clothes like this hooded pullover or like a sweater or sweatshirt. You also want to keep their immune system strong with healthy food, good filtered water, and some good dog supplements. These are just a few things to keep in mind if you have an out door dog, or one that spends most of the time out doors. Remember, dogs like comfort just like people do, even if they have better cold protection mechanisms than we do.
